The Lisbon Treaty and the Area of Freedom, Security and Justice

Background

After a short commentary on the number of motivations that triggered the last process of Treaty reform, the major changes agreed under the Lisbon Treaty will be addressed. The focus will be on the new legal status and the institutional and rule-making frameworks of the EU and the area of freedom, security and justice.

 

 

Aims and objectives

This event will allow participants to familiarize themselves with the main changes which should occur in the years to come in the European Union but also with the consequences of the implementation of the Treaty for candidate countries.

 

 

Methodology

This seminar will consist of presentations, questions & answers periods within each sub-topic.

 

 

Target group

Civil Servants from the offices of the Prime minister, ministries of Foreign Affairs, Justice and Interior as well as from European integration and legal departments from other line ministries, including Customs and law enforcement authorities. This seminar is also of interest to members of the Magistracy.
