ReSPA and Transport Community are organizing the Summer School aiming to offer a capacity-building program in transport and trade-related topics, allowing the participants to gain sound knowledge and understanding of the most important transport and trade facilitation instruments, as well as to build up their capacities in the implementation of such measures.

The Summer School aims also to provide a forum to exchange knowledge and best practices within the region and with EU MS on one-stop BCPs, synchronised/joint controls, exchange of information and coordination of border authorities, recognition of inspection certificates etc.

A practical case study visit on specific BCP(s) will also allow the participants to engage in an in-depth analysis of the observed facilities, traffic technology and clearance processes, and to look out for specific solutions.

The programme is structured thematically. The participants will learn the essentials, as well as get a deeper insight into border management, simplified customs procedures and models of joint controls, transport innovations and BCP infrastructure, national single windows and other cooperation platforms, private sector participation, and the Green Lanes initiative. 

The structure and the program will evolve based on discussions and feedback from different stakeholders; concrete topics and case studies will change accordingly, and they will be in the format of participatory attendance through group work activities. A site visit (case study) will be organised on the BCP Qafe Thane/ Kjafasan between Albania and North Macedonia which is expected to start functioning as a joint BCP by then, as well as if possible, to other BCPs of North Macedonia and Albania shared with Greece.
