
Unlocking the Future with Open Data: ReSPA Supports Keynote Session at the Open Data Challenge Hackathon in Podgorica

ReSPA supported a keynote session at the Open Data Challenge Hackathon in Podgorica, delivered by Aleš Veršič, Data Steward, who inspired participants to harness the power of open data in shaping innovative solutions for the future.
In his address, Veršič highlighted the transformative role of data: “Data are the essential resource for the future. They fuel innovation, strengthen transparency, and enable collaboration across borders and sectors.”
Participants explored the role of open data as the foundation of innovation, discussing the emergence of data spaces as the next level of collaboration and the critical connection between data and artificial intelligence. The session also shed light on the challenges and barriers to opening data while offering practical guidance on how to build sustainable open data ecosystems in the Western Balkans, drawing on best practices from around the world.
Expressing appreciation to its partners, Bojana Bajić, Public Policies Innovations and Digitalisation Officer in ReSPA, underlined the importance of joint efforts: “Thanks to the Ministry of Public Administration of Montenegro, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Science and Technology Park, this important exchange of knowledge and ideas was made possible. The active engagement of participants demonstrates a growing commitment to advancing the open data agenda in the region.”
