ReSPA with Regional Actors Advances Anti-Corruption and Integrity Reforms at Berlin Process Side Event in Sarajevo
Within the framework of the Berlin Process, a Side Event on Anti-Corruption and Good Governance hosted in Sarajevo, organised by the Regional Anti-Corruption Initiative (RAI) gathered key regional actors committed to strengthening the rule of law and advancing good governance across the Western Balkans. ReSPA is actively contributing to the policy dialogue on anti-corruption and public sector integrity reforms in the context of EU integration.
During the panel on How to Strengthen the Integrity Systems in the Western Balkans, moderated by Georg Stawa from the Austrian Federal Ministry of Justice, ReSPA Programme Manager Boris Ristović underscored the importance of regional cooperation as a cornerstone for transforming political commitments into the effective implementation of anti-corruption initiatives. Ristović also highlighted that ReSPA has significantly reinforced its public sector integrity portfolio in recent years through the establishment of a regional Community of Practice. This network brings together representatives from anti-corruption agencies, schools of public administration and ministries responsible for public administration and anti-corruption policies across the Western Balkans. The initiative fosters peer learning, integrity training, and awareness-raising in the public sector, while also promoting the mainstreaming of integrity principles in broader anti-corruption and good governance reforms.
Finally, Ristović emphasised ReSPA’s strong partnership with RAI, which is built on shared regional priorities and complementary mandates. ReSPA focuses on strengthening public sector capacities, while RAI leads efforts to develop regional anti-corruption cooperation instruments. Together, these initiatives reinforce the regional commitment to transparency, accountability and public trust as key pillars of the EU integration process.
