ReSPA Participates in Moldova Digital Summit 2026, Advancing Regional Dialogue on Digital Transformation
5 - 6 June 2026, Chișinău, Moldova
At the invitation of the Moldovan e-Governance Agency (eGA), ReSPA representative Bojana Bajić participated in the Moldova Digital Summit 2026.
As Moldova’s flagship event dedicated to digital transformation, the Summit brought together government leaders, European institutions, international organizations, technology companies, innovators, and development partners to discuss the future of digital governance, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, digital identity, and digital public infrastructure.
The Summit was officially opened by Alexandru Munteanu, Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova and the European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos. Their opening remarks underscored the importance of digital transformation, innovation, digital public infrastructure, and trusted digital services as key enablers of Moldova’s economic development and its path towards European Union integration.
The two-day programme featured several thematic tracks covering digital government, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, digital identity, business digitalization, investment opportunities, and digital skills development. Discussions focused on European digital integration, interoperability of electronic services, AI applications in both the public and private sectors, cybersecurity resilience, digital public infrastructure, e-payment solutions, and the skills required for an increasingly AI-driven economy.
A prominent theme throughout the Summit was digital sovereignty and the ways countries can strengthen control over critical digital infrastructure, data governance, cloud services, cybersecurity capabilities, and strategic technologies while remaining aligned with European standards and values. Participants highlighted the importance of balancing openness and innovation with resilience, security, and technological independence in an increasingly complex geopolitical environment.
Among the most notable sessions was the presentation of Moldova’s digital identity ecosystem and the EVO Digital Identity Wallet by Nicoleta Colomeeț, Director of the e-Governance Agency. The presentation showcased Moldova’s progress in developing interoperable digital public services and its contribution to the European Digital Identity ecosystem, demonstrating practical use cases for secure, user-centric access to public services.
Throughout the Summit, participants engaged in plenary sessions, thematic discussions, and networking events, creating valuable opportunities for knowledge exchange and collaboration. Bojana Bajić also met with representatives of Moldovan institutions, international organizations, and development partners to discuss current developments and future cooperation in the digital governance field.
Participation in the Moldova Digital Summit 2026 provided an excellent opportunity for ReSPA to exchange experiences, promote its regional initiatives, and explore new avenues for cooperation in areas such as digital governance, AI readiness and governance, digital skills development, digital identity, digital sovereignty, and citizen-centric public service delivery.
As the Western Balkans and EU candidate countries continue to accelerate their digital transformation efforts, events such as the Moldova Digital Summit serve as important platforms for sharing innovative practices, strengthening partnerships, and advancing a common vision of inclusive, secure, and citizen-focused digital governance.
